Started going here as Mika across the road closed down. Sashimi was great but seafod udon was a bit boring. Thought Mika was better but if you want some sushi on portobello there's not much choice any more. I have a problem in that they sell Fiji Water which means I won't go back again. But the food is good.

Ukai is a great place, perfect for a meal before heading to the Electric. The decor is nice, the ambiance superb, and the friendly staff make you feel welcome. Food was great -- 20 for a substantial sushi/sashimi/salmon roll dinner that left me pretty satiated! I will be going back, as I love the Portobello Road area and love finding good sushi restaurants even more.

Quite possibly the best sushi in town. Having lived in Japan if its not fresh its not worth it. Ukai food is not only fresh it comes with a smile and great presentation. There's no better Japanese delivery in London! Try the fresh miso soup - you will never have packet mix ever again....

I live just around the corner and this has become a regular destination. Some of the ingredients in the sushi (eg. mango) don't seem entirely authentic, but it never claimed to be a traditional sushi place, and the results are delicious. I'm a particular fan of their mackerel. One word of warning - portions are enormous, so don't order the same number of pieces of sushi as you would normally. After all, if you still feel hungry you can always order a few more dishes :-)One thing that could be improved a bit is the variety of fish available. What they do is great, but it would be nice to also have (for example) toro, uni or clams.
