Just been told that this most famous of London Pubs is once again holding a very exclusive Burns Supper on Friday 23rd Jan.2009 to celebrate the 250th year of Scotlands National Poets birthday.

This has now been held annually for the last 3-4 years and as usual a piper will play in the main courtyard...(Pipe Major Rebecca.)and then will parade around and through the pubs bars to escort the honoured guests upstairs to the dining room where the appropriate dishes of Haggis ,neeps , tatties and whsky will be served.

There will also be renditions from students of the Royal Academy of Music and a number of celebs /actors and local politicians have been invited.......maybe even Boris?

This special eventis being organised by the RAVENS which is a club connected with the students union at Guys..so no problem to find a Doc.

Chairman Mr Tony Heywood can be contacted for information on Tics /reviews etc...

Amongst the oldest pubs in town, this place has the reputable names of none other than Dickens and Shakespeare on its score of former patrons and carries the mood and atmosphere of old London with dignity.Set around a large courtyard just off Borough High Street, this is a three storey building with balconies that were for perfomances in the courtyard back in th'olden times. Amazing real ales (this pub is always a point of call for those who know their ale) and fantastic atmosphere, the slightly hidden aspect of the place keeps the clientele interesting and has managed to gather an unusual group of regulars. Really good place to sit outside in the summer, far removed from the noise of Borough. Can't recommend enough, but keep your eyes peeled along Borough High Street if you have any hopes of finding it...
