Unlike most Stoke Newington inhabitants, I cannot sing the praises of The Blue Legume. Despite the lovely interior, and it's evident popularity, the food is simply not up to scratch. The much-lauded breakfasts I find over-rated. I had an Eggs Benedict which was smothered in a bitter, unpleasant hollandaise, and the service was quite slow and unhelpful.

I have been going here for years and is always very popular, have eaten many time from there counter food with the selection of salads is great value. The paella in the evening is also to die for! My only wish is that it was bigger as it is sometime difficult to get a seat!

Bright and colourful decor with wooden tables and decorated with mosaics and murals. Extensive menu offering wholesome salads, tarts, pastas, quiches and desserts. Many dishes are suitable for vegetarians and vegans. There are some good breakfast options. Many fresh healthy juices and smoothies available.

"The only place to go for breakfast is the The Blue Legume - I don't want to brag too much about this place as it is so hard to get a table any day!! Their breakfast menu goes until 4pm...so the stumble from bed to Church street is well worth the effort. They do yummy mouth watering juices - for something different try the Spiralina Shake with banana & apple (it can be a meal in itself). Organic waffles and the fruit platter covered in maple syrup is devine (very exotic in London terms), oh and every thing else on the breakfast menu too!!"
