Plan B

The draw of Plan B is its double whammy aspects, not only does it function well as a gig venue but it also knows how to hold a great club night too. As Brixton steps up on the palates of scenesters, Plan B is certainly the place to be.

But if you think you will be doused in West End vibes, think again, Plan B remains true to its South London roots. With interiors gritty but suave it can dampen the warmth of the venue, but like all their events and club nights you will eventually swelter in the heat. Good music in a great location.

The live acts are a complete smash out at this venue. Plan B may be considered small in comparison to other gig zones, but you cant complain. Intimate and trendy, plus the DJ knows exactly what the crowd wants to hear!

"Hoxton, has floated into Brixton - or what now should be known as 'Broxton'. But don't worry, the Victoria Line seems to have acted as a poseur filter, most of them too scared travel South of the River. It was the rough-round-the-edges styling, metallic bar and light boxes, and the DJ box towers above those below. There's also some nice, padded steps running up the wall, which is good for two people, any more, and you get neck strain trying to crane round to join the conversation. Depending on your tastes, you could see this a cold unfriendly industrial interior, or a champion of retro-futuristic urban cool. They've obviously spent alot of money trying to make it not look like Wimpy (its former incarnation for all you newbies) and you've got a clear view of the kitchen, so there's no danger of spotty underpaid teenagers coughing greenies on your food. They've got some good nights too. Sunday Best recently graced this residence, which saves that long trek through the outback of chilly Wandsworth (where there's no where else to drink nearby). This is definitely a place to watch - it feels a bit more 'grown-up' than sliding around in 'Bug Bar' or 'Dog Star' but without being boring. So how about doing the doing the same to MacDonalds and KFC?"

"What can I say? Plan B is Brixton's number one. Apart from the occasional problems with bouncers (why is it that Brixton employs such horrible people to run the doors of clubs? Surely a little courtesy wouldn't go amiss?) the whole experience is great - cocktails, bar staff, decor, ambience. As good as any West End club and the late license is a so welcome in an area where late venues can be too cheesy, the music is cool and not too overbearing and the customers are always Brixton's coolest crowd."
