Montgomery Place
Features: Cocktails, Bar, Cuisine: TapasNearest Transport: Ladbroke Grove / London Underground
Montgomery Place prides itself on its cocktails and wine list, with bottles from around the world including Brazil, Mexico, Morocco and The Lebanon. The food is served in the style of Mediterranean and modern European Tapas.
Brought to you by the team behind the excellent Dusk in Battersea, Montgomery Place brings a smooth, international feel to Notting Hill.
With a more grown up feel than the usual banging bars in the locality, Montgomery Place is about the laid back, chilled vibe, a glass of good quality wine and good company. Leather banquettes and black and white photos take inspiration from 60s Las Vegas swells while the wine list takes in the rest of the world.
Stuck for choice when faced with the extensive drinks menu? The uber-professional staff know their stuff, so why not ask their advice?

What a disappointment!
Montgomery Place is rated by some websites as one of the best places in London for cocktails... after two incorrectly placed orders and a frustrating wait, I most strongly disagree.
A few days back I visited the venue to see what everyone was raving about. I ordered a Vodka Martini with an olive. Not only did I have to pay for my drink before it was prepared, but the young waitress, who obviously hadn't a clue about cocktails, served it to me with a 'twist'. What would James Bond say to that?!?!?
So I sent it back and tried again, this time making sure to pronounce each word clearly: a Vodka Martini with an olive. On second try the waitress gave me a 'Dirty Martini' and I gave up.
I would certainly not recommend this place for cocktails at all.

If your priorities in a bar are extensive cocktails, stylish interiors, and ambient lighting and music, this place could be right up your street. It is certainly my cup of tea, and I would be the first to admit that I am a little shallow when it comes to choosing my drinking establishments. On a freezing January night and in search of somewhere I could snuggle up to my date, have a conversation and still feel like I had been somewhere cool, this place hit the mark. Whilst I can only comment on the two cocktails we had, the Thrilla in Vanilla was perfect, not too sweet with a hint of mint and vanilla finding its way through the cranberries. The other drink we tried had an equally well thought out title, so much so I can't remember it, I do however remember the contents: ginger, rum, chilli, and lime (a number of my favourite flavours) did make it a little tart, liked less by my partner than myself. Staff were unobtrusive and helpful, although seemed a little flumaxed by our request to sit in a particular part of the bar even though it was only half full and 11 o'clock at night! Last words: great toilets and great evening!

Montgomery Place is in my opinion one of the best cocktail bars I have been in. They pay great attention to detail and the food is great too.

I really enjoyed my time here and had a chilled out night. The bar staff were friendly and attended to us very quickly. Overall a nice atmosphere with great decor and nice bar menu :)
I would never set foot in this bar again. Thought it looked like a pretty cool, chilled kind of place so brought my visitors from New York there recently for a cocktail after a lovely meal next door. We were half way through our average, overpriced drinks when the waitress started asking us if we wanted another. Not intending to have more than one we resisted until about the 4th time she asked so we finally agreed and ordered another round. Literally 5 minutes later the bouncer came over to tell us to drink up as the bar was closing. Don't know about you but I am not abut to skull a 10 drink for anyone so I politely informed him that we had just gotten them and would finish them when we were ready. Thinking this was reasonable i thought that was the end of it until he came back 2 mins later to tell us we had to finish and leave!! When we argued the point he grabbed my brothers drink and marched off to the bar with it. Needless to say an argument ensued and we left extremely disgruntled and minus our drinks!! It was a pretty unpleasant and surprising experience as I would have thought that somewhere that pitches itself as a quality establishment would have a little more class!!
